Mesquite removal in the Santa Rita Experimental Range and how the encroachment impacts grassland birds

Degrees

  • BS in Wildlife, Fish, and Conservation Biology, UC Davis 2023

Research Interests

Cameron is studying grassland birds and how they are impacted by the removal of mesquite in the Santa Rita Experimental Range in southeast Arizona. He hopes to understand if such removal will lead to a higher abundance of breeding and wintering grassland birds, some of the most declining birds in the US.

Cameron graduated from UC Davis with a BS in Wildlife, Fish, and Conservation Biology in 2023. He has worked as a biologist and technician in California, Oregon, Delaware, North Carolina, and Alabama before starting his MS. He is fascinated by birds, in particular, their habitat, conservation, and migration ecology. During his free time, he immerses himself in every habitat in his local region to observe such species. Besides birds, he loves playing French Horn, hiking, traveling, and talking about pretty much anything.
