Research

I am a geomorphologist and hydrologist studying how rainfall variability, soil and bedrock properties, and vegetation affect runoff, sediment transport, and landscape change. I am currently investigating how berms and stock tanks influence erosion and deposition in the American Southwest using drone and satellite remote sensing, field measurements, and process based modeling. My past work includes applied hydrology research in northwestern Kenya, field based ecohydrology research on landslides and floods in Kyrgyzstan, event scale sediment transport and landscape response to extreme storms in southern New Mexico, and work with the US Department of Agriculture on parameterizing runoff and erosion models.
